Man Fatally Struck by Driver in Santa Clarita
SANTA CLARITA, CA (April 15, 2019) – One person died in a Friday night pedestrian accident on the Golden Valley Road off-ramp at Highway 14.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident turned deadly around 10 p.m.
A man in his 60 died from his injuries when a driver struck him on the freeway’s northbound off-ramp.
Around 9:20 p.m., the victim was reportedly walking on the right shoulder. Twenty minutes later, CHP officers received a call about the man in the slow lane.
It appears a Tustin man in a 2002 Honda Accord struck the pedestrian. The 25-year-old driver saw the pedestrian but tried to pull to the left to avoid hitting the man but failed.
The unidentified victim died at the scene while the driver was arrested on unknown suspicion charges.
Due to investigations, officials closed Golden Valley Road until 11 p.m. when the freeway lanes reopened.
Our deepest condolences go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
