Man Hospitalized Following Carmichael Pedestrian Accident
CARMICHAEL, CA (June 3, 2019) – A pedestrian suffered minor injuries after being struck by a pickup truck at Madison Avenue and Dewey Drive Sunday.
Around 10:12 a.m., officers received a report about a collision.
According to California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Amy Walker, a southbound pickup truck struck the pedestrian in an electric wheelchair as the man crossed the street.
CHP further noted that the pedestrian was thrown onto the road as a result of the impact.
The victim sustained minor injuries and sought hospital treatment shortly after. Meanwhile, the truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police questioning.
Following their investigation, officers determined that impairment did not contribute to the accident.
Pedestrian accidents commonly occur at intersections. Drivers are reminded to slow down in these areas, as well as in neighborhoods, school zones and parking lots. We never know when we may encounter people crossing the street, which is why we must be alert and slow down.
