Passenger Abandoned by Driver in Fatal Wrightwood Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 2
WRIGHTWOOD, CA (June 26, 2019) – A passenger died in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 2 near Highway 138 Sunday night.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, a driver in a 2018 Chevy Cruze crashed into the side of a hill after failing to negotiate a curve on the roadway. CHP officers say the Chevy Cruze had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.
As a result of the impact, the Chevy ruptured into flames. The driver fled the scene leaving an unidentified male passenger in the vehicle.
Unfortunately, the passenger died shortly after.
