Passenger Abandoned by Driver in Fatal Wrightwood Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 2

 
WRIGHTWOOD, CA (June 26, 2019) – A passenger died in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 2 near Highway 138 Sunday night.
 
According to California Highway Patrol officials, a driver in a 2018 Chevy Cruze crashed into the side of a hill after failing to negotiate a curve on the roadway. CHP officers say the Chevy Cruze had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.
 
As a result of the impact, the Chevy ruptured into flames. The driver fled the scene leaving an unidentified male passenger in the vehicle.
 
Unfortunately, the passenger died shortly after.
 
Now, CHP is asking the public’s help in identifying the suspect and his or her whereabouts. Anyone with information should call the Victorville area office at (760) 241-1186.
