VISTA, CA (November 11, 2021) – Wednesday afternoon, a passenger died in a hit-and-run crash on West Vista Way and State Route 78.
 
The incident involving a car and a trash truck occurred at around 4:00 p.m. Moreover, it happened on West Vista Way and State Route 78.
 
When the deputies and paramedics arrived, they located the silver Mazda 6 “wedged in the rear of an EDCO trash truck.” Then, they found a dead man in the car’s passenger seat. However, the driver wasn’t found at the scene.
 
After unsuccessfully searching for the driver, investigators tracked the car’s registered owner. However, their attempt was also futile.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t identified whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
The deputies from the sheriff’s Vista substation’s traffic division handle the investigation.
 
Also, they urged anyone with information about the incident to contact San Diego County Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Tipsters may be entitled to get a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
