Motorist Killed in High-Speed Head-On Collision in Oroville
OROVILLE, CA (January 22, 2019) – A head-on collision Sunday evening along Highway 70 near Cox Lane claimed a driver’s life and left three people with severe injuries.
The 6:30 p.m. crash befell during rainy conditions, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses say a vehicle was speeding northbound at speeds of about 90 mph. The driver reportedly entered a right-hand curve in the roadway and lost control, striking a southbound vehicle head-on.
The unidentified driver of the purportedly high speeding car, who was believed to be 18 years old, died in the crash. A passenger in the same vehicle also believed to be 18 years old suffered major injuries.
Inside the southbound vehicle was a couple in their 90s who also suffered major injuries and were lifted to nearby hospitals.
Authorities are investigating this fatal crash to determine the details.
