SAN DIEGO, CA (July 17, 2019) – At least one person was killed Wednesday following a rollover crash on 5 Freeway, near Sea World Drive.
 
CHP officials responded to the scene around 3:51 p.m., and located an overturned silver sedan on the right shoulder of the 5 freeway. Other vehicles were also involved but the exact number and description were not immediately known.
 
Paramedics later confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the crash. However, the identity of the victim has not yet been released pending family notification.
 
Towing services were requested due to the extent of damage sustained.
 
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
 
Details surrounding the collision were not made clear in the initial reports. However, the incident is still on active investigation while the authorities are putting the pieces together.
