17-Year-Old Chico Man Dies after Car Overturns on Highway 149 in Oroville

 
OROVILLE, CA (October 1, 2019) – A young man died in a rollover crash Tuesday evening on Highway 149 in Butte County, CHP officials said.
 
A Caltrans employee spotted the crash at 10:15 p.m. just north of Shippee Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle veered off the right shoulder and into a guardrail. It went down into a ravine and across a creek, where it came to rest on its roof.
 
The driver was trapped inside the overturned vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities identified him as 17-year-old Odilon Zaragosa of Chico.
 
A preliminary investigation indicated speed may have been a factor in the crash. Authorities are looking further into the accident.
