Injuries Reported in Fresno Auto Accident on Highway 41 near McKinley Avenue
FRESNO, CA (May 14, 2023) – Saturday, a police officer and a prisoner were hurt after multiple collisions on Highway 41.
The incident happened on Highway 41 near McKinley Avenue.
According to reports, multiple collisions involving drunk drivers on Highway 41 left the Fresno police officer and a prisoner in his custody with injuries.
The incidents resulted in the closure of northbound 41 from shortly after midnight until 1:38 a.m. Then, two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence charges, and chaos ensued with two police cars stopped on northbound 41 near McKinley Avenue.
One of the police cars was parked on the roadway shoulder. Meanwhile, the second had a handcuffed prisoner in the back and was in the right lane with emergency lights activated behind the suspect’s car.
As several officers stood on the right shoulder, the driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe hit the police vehicle on the shoulder. Then, it crashed into the second police vehicle in the right lane, and pushed it into the suspect’s car.
As a result, an officer on the shoulder was knocked to the ground, and the prisoner in the police car was also injured. Both injuries were minor.
The crash caused traffic to back up along Highway 41 near McKinley Avenue.
