Rider Fatally Struck by Big Rig in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (April 18, 2019) – A big rig fatally ran over a motorcyclist Wednesday afternoon on the 280 Freeway near Race Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the unidentified motorcyclist fell off his motorcycle for unknown reasons while traveling southbound on the freeway. Reports say the rider was splitting lanes when the incident happened.
Subsequently, a fully loaded double trailer rock hauler fatally struck the motorcyclist in the No. 3 lane. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist died from his severe injuries.
According to CHP Officer Ross Lee, it is unclear at this point what caused the motorcyclist to fall off his bike.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office plans to release the man’s identity once the next of kin has been notified.
