Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on 8 Freeway at Greenfield Drive [EL CAJON, CA]

Rider Dies after Crash with Pickup Truck on 8 Freeway in El Cajon

 
EL CAJON, CA (July 24, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a pickup truck Wednesday morning in El Cajon, authorities said.
 
The crash happened around 11:55 a.m. on eastbound 8 Freeway at Greenfield Drive.
 
According to police, a full-sized pickup truck was turning left onto eastbound 8 Freeway on a red light when it struck the motorcyclist who was heading westbound on Greenfield Drive.
 
Arriving units found the rider lying in lanes with severe head injuries. Paramedics attempted CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the rider was between 40-50 years old.
 
The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
Officers shut down one freeway lane and the Greenfield on-ramp while they worked on the scene.
 
Drugs and/or alcohol were not considered as contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
