Marc Wohlfeil Detained in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Sports Arena Boulevard Near Kemper Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 6, 2020)—A hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Sports Arena Boulevard near Kemper Street Friday left three people hospitalized.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the 9:30 p.m. crash happened near the Pechanga Arena San Diego.
Police learned that a driver of a silver 2000 Ford Mustang left a Home Depot parking lot and struck the trio, who’d been crossing outside a marked crosswalk.
Later, witnesses confirmed the identity of 54-year-old Marc Wohlfeil, whom officers found, along with his vehicle, near Shelter Island. Police arrested the San Diego man on suspicion of driving under the influence and drugs and felony hit-and-run charges.
Following the incident, all three victims received treatment at a nearby hospital. One patient—a 55-year-old woman—suffered facial fractures and a brain bleed. The second woman—a 60-year-old—sustained a fractured pelvis and left ankle. As for the third pedestrian—a 54-year-old man—he suffered a minor leg injury and cuts to his hand.
Although a San Diego Gulls game at Pechanga Arena had been going on at the time, police aren’t certain whether the three pedestrians had participated the event.
The faster you travel, the more effort and time are required to slow down. Speed, impaired driving and distractions play a crucial role in car accidents. As a result, focus on the task at hand and never operate a car while inebriated.
