Man Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash at South Edison Road and Hermosa Road [BAKERSFIELD, CA]

Driver Dies after Running Through Stop Sign and Crashing Another Car at South Edison and Hermosa Roads

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 27, 2020) – A man was killed following a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon east of Bakersfield.
 
The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Edison Road and Hermosa Road.
 
According to the CHP, a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling westbound on Hermosa Road when it ran a stop sign at the intersection. A Toyota Corolla heading south on South Edison Road did not have a stop sign and hit the pickup as it entered the intersection.
 
The impact ejected the driver of the pickup, who was not wearing a seat belt. He died at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office did not release his identity pending family notification.
 
Paramedics transported the female driver of the Corolla to Kern Medical with unspecified injuries.
 
CHP says both drivers were traveling approximately 55 mph, which is the posted speed limit in that area.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
