Man Killed by Caltrain in San Mateo
SAN MATEO, CA (April 11, 2019) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Caltrain Wednesday afternoon, at the Hillsdale Caltrain Station on South El Camino Real.
According to Caltrain spokesperson Alex Eisenhart, the incident took place around 4:20 p.m.
Reports say train no. 602 with nearly 300 passengers on board struck the man on the tracks.
Officials stated that the adult pedestrian had been trespassing on the train tracks when the incident happened. As a result of the accident, passengers experienced delays up to two hours.
Fortunately, none of the passengers on board the Caltrain suffered any type of injuries.
According to Eisenhart, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Transit Police Bureau plans to investigate this incident and determine the man’s identity.
