Kevin Hernandez Arrested in Deadly DUI Crash on East Monte Vista Avenue in Turlock

Kevin Hernandez Detained, 1 Dead and 2 Injured Following DUI Wreck on East Monte Vista Avenue Near Geer Road

TURLOCK, CA (December 17, 2018) – A Dutcher Middle School eighth-grader died Friday night following a two-vehicle DUI crash on East Monte Vista Avenue near Geer Road.

According to police, authorities with the Turlock Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle crash around 7 p.m. in the 100 block of East Monte Vista Avenue. When officers arrived, a white Toyota sedan was located with two occupants inside and a third victim who had been ejected a short distance away.

A teen girl, described as a Dutcher Middle School eighth-grader, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another juvenile female suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized while an adult female was airlifted to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Turlock Police later indicated that both survivors are in stable condition.

Not too far from the white Toyota was a black Toyota truck, driven by 21-year-old Kevin Solis Hernandez. It was said that Hernandez collided with a carport and a parked vehicle after striking the Toyota.

The Turlock man was found under the influence and suffering from minor injuries. He was subsequently booked into the Stanislaus County jail with charges of vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing death or serious bodily injury.

The Turlock Police Major Accident Investigation Team is handling an investigation.
