Jose Orozco Asuncion Dead in Atwater Accident on Avenue Two and El Rodebaugh Court

 
ATWATER, CA (April 6, 2021) – Sunday, 69-year-old Jose Orozco Asuncion died in a crash on Avenue Two and El Rodebaugh Court.
 
At about 11:33 a.m., officers came to a two-vehicle crash near Buhach Colony High School. An unresponsive driver was near Avenue Two and El Rodebaugh Court, said Sgt. Dayton Snyder.
 
Reports revealed that Asuncion drove a GMC Acadia. He didn’t stop at a posted stop sign on El Rodebaugh Court as he tried to turn left onto Avenue Two.
 
As the GMC tried to turn, an eastbound Hyundai Sonata with two female occupants hit the GMC on Avenue Two.
 
“At that location, the only thing controlling the intersection is a stop sign at El Rodebaugh for northbound traffic,” Snyder revealed.
 
Then, the Hyundai tried to veer to avoid a crash. However, it crashed with the left rear area of the GMC.
 
When officers arrived, they started initiating life-saving measures on Asuncion. However, they declared him dead at the scene.
 
Snyder added that the Hyundai occupants were taken to an area hospital for treatment of cuts and abrasions.
 
The authorities ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash.
 
Moreover, the Atwater crash remains under active investigation.
