BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 12, 2023) – On Friday night, a horrific rollover crash on 10 Chester Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around 10:44 p.m. in the 10th block of Chester Avenue.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a vehicle failed to pull over for a traffic stop for vehicle code violations in the area of Mt. Vernon Avenue and Gateway Avenue. Then, authorities initiated a pursuit, but the vehicle lost control, crashed, and rolled over.

Moreover, responders pronounced the male driver of the vehicle, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported five passengers of the vehicle, ages 16 to 18, to a hospital with moderate injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
