1 Dead in Caldwell Auto Accident on State Highway 36 near County Road 122

CALDWELL, TX (April 17, 2024) – Monday, a 17-year-old girl died in a horrific 2-vehicle crash on State Highway 36 near County Road 122.

The incident happened when a 17-year-old Somerville girl drove a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu traveling southbound on State Highway 36 near County Road 122, southeast of Caldwell, around 6:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, a 2014 Dodge pickup towing a trailer was also driving southbound. Officers confirmed that the pickup failed to drive in a single lane, causing the trailer to strike the Malibu.

As a result, three others sustained injuries, with a six-year-old child being flown to a Houston hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge suffered no injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
