Gregory Ott Dies After Crashing Motorcycle With Semi-Truck on Hesperia Boulevard at College Street
SAN LEANDRO, CA (March 20, 2019) – A 64-year-old man died Tuesday in a motorcycle accident at Hesperia Boulevard and College Street.
The deadly event happened around 9:20 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to reports, a 21-year-old driver operating a 2013 Kenworth Aerocab big-rig struck a 1995 yellow-and-black Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Soon after, Alameda County Fire Department firefighters responded and provided life-saving measures to Gregory Ott. Unresponsive, Ott received aid but despite these efforts, the San Leandro man succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators determined that the big rig driver pulled forward to enter the ramp to the 238 Freeway after the traffic signal turned green. However, Ott simultaneously pulled forward and crossed directly in front of the semi-truck, resulting in a crash.
The truck’s driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Per CHP officials, alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as possible factors in the collision.
