GARDEN GROVE, CA – Girl, Mother Killed in DUI Multi-Car Collision on 22 Freeway Near Valley View Street

9-Year-Old Girl, Mother Dead in Garden Grove DUI Wreck

 
GARDEN GROVE, CA (January 2, 2019) – A 9-year-old girl and a 33-year-old woman were killed in a multi-vehicle DUI collision Tuesday morning on the 22 Freeway near Valley View Street.
 
Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision around 1 a.m. to find an overturned vehicle in the westbound lanes. A 9-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene and arriving paramedics rushed a 33-year-old woman to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange where she died from her injuries at 1:47 a.m.
 
A 10-year-old boy who was also a passenger in the same car was transported to a hospital.
 
It appears four vehicles were involved in the pileup including a BMW, whose driver was believed to be under the influence. The unidentified motorist was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
 
The identities of the victims will be released once the next of kin has been notified.
