Frankie Garduno Arrested in Police Pursuit Accident Near Linea Del Cielo and La Floresta

 
SOLANO BEACH, CA (April 26, 2019) – Two officers suffered moderate injuries in Thursday’s police chase crash near Linea Del Cielo and La Floresta.
 
The incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m. Deputies tried pulling over a suspect connected to an attempted armed hold-up that occurred minutes before at a gas station.
 
Frankie John Garduno, 29, was suspected of the robbery, which happened near Mission Viejo High School. Deputies began a pursuit against the 29-year-old who refused to yield.
 
Garduno took off entering the southbound 5 Freeway lanes when CHP officers took over.
 
After coasting through Oceanside, San Clemente, Carlsbad and Encinitas, Garduno exited off Lomas Santa Fe Drive. One officer tried using his cruiser to nudge the suspect’s car to get it to halt to a stop.
 
However, Garduno evaded this tactic and continued driving while striking two officers on the way. Although shots were fired at the suspect’s vehicle, causing no injuries, Garduno fled.
 
Yet the chase didn’t last for too long after that. Garduno crashed at La Floresta and Linea del Cielo under unknown circumstances. He then fled on foot, but officers found him in a nearby cul-de-sac where he surrendered.
 
The two CHP officers along with Garduno sought treatment at a local hospital.
 
Police booked Garduno into County Jail in Vista on suspicion of assault and evading arrest.
 
Fleeing suspects tend to speed and drive recklessly, interweaving in and out of traffic. Be on the lookout when this happens. Always make sure your seatbelt is on and avoid these drivers if possible. It’s also helpful to keep your audio level at a minimum to hear any emergency sirens nearby.
