2 Drivers Injured in Orcutt Auto Accident on Highway 1

 
ORCUTT, CA (July 16, 2020) – On Tuesday night, authorities arrested Fidel Ortiz-Pausano after a head-on crash on Highway 135 that left Nicholas Ainza with injuries.
 
The CHP revealed that the two-vehicle crash occurred at about 9:42 p.m. on Highway 135, just north of Highway 1.
 
According to police reports, a male driver of a Chevrolet Aveo traveled north in the southbound No. 1 lane. Meanwhile, another male driver of a Toyota Highlander headed south in the No. 1 lane.
 
CHP confirmed that the Chevrolet driver was in the wrong direction. Thus, he crashed head-on with the Highlander, driven by Mr. Ainza. As a result, responders transported both drivers to Marian Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
 
Afterward, the CHP arrested the male driver, 26-year-old Fidel Ortiz-Pausano of Santa Maria. He received charges for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury.
