FONTANA, CA (February 21, 2024) – Thursday night, a fatal hit-and-run crash on San Bernardino Avenue near Sierra Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:35 p.m. on San Bernardino Avenue, west of Sierra Avenue.

According to Fontana Public Information Officer Daniel Romero, a grey SUV or truck struck a pedestrian who was crossing San Bernardino Avenue from the north side. Then, the vehicle fled the scene eastbound on San Bernardino Avenue.

Moreover, the San Bernardino County Fire/Medics rushed the female victim to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, officers said that the suspect vehicle is best described as a black 2022-2023 Nissan Frontier.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
