Eugene Layton Killed, David Raymond and Joanie Raymond Injured in 2-Vehicle Accident at Highway 97 and Engh Road
OMAK, WA (April 26, 2019) – A two-vehicle crash along Highway 97 at Engh Road claimed a man’s life Monday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Eugene L. Layton, 87, attempted a left turn from Highway 97 on to Engh Road and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., a northbound Chevy Tahoe struck his Buick Lucerne.
The Riverside elder died at Mid-Valley Hospital shortly after the crash.
Meanwhile, paramedics air-flighted the 71-year-old Tahoe driver – David W. Raymond of Oroville – to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Raymond’s 66-year-old passenger – Joanie E. Raymond of Oroville – sought treatment at Mid-Valley Hospital.
No other details were included in the report, but an investigation is underway.
