Enrique Plata Jr Dies, Child Injured in West Old Inland Empire Highway Crash [Prosser, WA]

Prosser, WA (December 14, 2021) – On Saturday, a 9-year-old boy sustained injuries in a solo-vehicle crash on West Old Inland Empire Highway killing the 45-year-old Enrique Plata Jr.

The fatal crash took place at 8:15 a.m. 

Officers said Plata was northbound on the highway at an excessive speed. 

As a result, he lost control of the vehicle when it veered off the road. He overcorrected and the vehicle went off the other side of the road where it struck a tree head-on.

Immediately, the paramedics rescued the 9-year-old boy and rushed him to a hospital in Spokane for serious injuries. There is no update on his condition.

Meanwhile, Plata Jr. lost his life at the scene. Officers said he was not wearing a seatbelt during the collision.

The officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
