1 Killed and 3 Injured after Pursuit Ends in Crash near Hazel Avenue

 
ORANGEVALE, CA (November 6, 2018) – A man was killed late Tuesday evening following a police chase crash on Greenback Lane. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
 
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, deputies attempted to pull over a black Volkswagen that was traveling over 100 mph on Zinfandel Road, at about 10:00 PM. A short time later, the speeding vehicle was T-boned by a silver sedan near the intersection of Hazel Avenue and Greenback Lane.
 
Due to the impact of the collision, the Volkswagen driver died on the scene, while his passenger was hospitalized with unspecified injuries. Meanwhile, two people in the silver sedan were transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. There is no further update on either person’s current medical condition.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify other possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
