Driver Hurt and Arrested in San Jose Pursuit Crash

SAN JOSE, CA (January 18, 2019) – A driver suspected of crashing into a home and fleeing from police was arrested on Wednesday, February 13.

According to police, officers had tried to conduct a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet pickup truck for a vehicle code violation at around 1:45 p.m. in the area of Alum Rock Avenue and White Road.

The driver reportedly backed up into an officer’s patrol vehicle and fled. Officers noticed the vehicle matched the description of one involved in a prior hit-and-run and assault with a deadly weapon in San Jose.

The suspect collided into a home in the 3300 block of East Hills Drive minutes later and police arrived and surrounded the area.

Officers were unable to discern if the suspect was inside the vehicle because of its tinted windows. Yet they found the suspect inside the home’s garage and officers arrested him without incident.

Police stated that the driver also struck two other vehicles in the area before slamming into the house. He was brought to a hospital with minor injuries. No one else sustained injuries.

The suspect’s name was not yet immediately available. After being discharged from the hospital, he will be booked into the county jail on suspicion of hit-and-run, assault with a deadly weapon, and evading a police officer.
