2 Hurt in Somis Traffic Accident on Highway 118 near Mesa School Road

SOMIS, CA (May 11, 2023) – Tuesday night, a devastating fiery crash on Highway 118 near Mesa School Road leaves two people injured.

The incident happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Highway 118 near Mesa School Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2007 Lexus and a Peterbilt big rig collided head-on for still unknown reasons.

Moreover, firefighters rushed to the scene and extricated the 66-year-old male driver of the Lexus who was trapped inside the wreckage. Then, paramedics airlifted the driver to Ventura County Medical Center with serious injuries. Also, responders transported the 59-year-old male driver of the big rig to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks with moderate injuries.

Furthermore, authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
