David Auth Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 62 [TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA]

65-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Car on Highway 62 at Encelia Avenue

 
TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA (September 15, 2019) – A man died in a pedestrian crash Sunday evening in Twentynine Palms.
 
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on Highway 62 about 450 feet west of Encelia Avenue.
 
CHP officials said a male pedestrian was walking southbound across Highway 62 when a 2014 BMW 528i struck him.
 
As a result, the victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was later identified as David Auth, 65, of Twentynine Palms.
 
Officials only described the driver as a 38-year-old Los Angeles resident.
 
CHP closed the eastbound lanes of the highway for several hours for the on-scene investigation.
