30-Year-Old Crystal Botello Killed in FM 2507 Head-On Collision [Corpus Christi, TX]

Corpus Christi, TX (October 26, 2023) – 30-year-old Crystal Botello and 20-year-old Criselda Ramirez were killed following an FM 2507 head-on collision Tuesday night.

It was around 7:45 p.m. when Ramirez was driving a 2012 Dodge Caliber while Botello was in the passenger seat. Their vehicle was southbound on FM 2507 when Ramirez saw a group of wild pigs on the road. 

Ramirez tried but failed to avoid the pigs. Her vehicle veered into the northbound lane and struck head-on a 2017 Dodge Rebel Ram 1500. 

Unfortunately, Botello and Ramirez died at the scene. DPS officers said Ramirez was wearing her seatbelt and Botello was not.

Moreover, the truck’s 24-year-old driver, Libardo Carillo III, did not wear a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The rescuers airlifted him to Bay Area Hospital with serious injuries. 

The truck’s passengers, 23-year-old Darion Almedia and a 3-year-old girl incurred minor injuries. They were treated at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital.

Investigators said Carillo was not wearing a seatbelt. 

Officers are still investigating this fatal collision.
