50-Year-Old Bicyclist Dead after Hit-And-Run Crash on 98th Avenue in Oakland

Oakland, CA (May 18, 2023) – Wednesday night, a 50-year-old bicyclist died after a hit-and-run crash on 98th Avenue and D Street.

The fatal hit-and-run crash on 98th Avenue in Oakland happened around 9 p.m. on May 17.

Oakland police said they found the man unresponsive on the sidewalk at the intersection of 98th Avenue and D Street.

EMS took him to a hospital where he later died.

Police were able to establish that the victim had been struck by an unidentified white car at the junction. The car was last seen traveling south on 98th Avenue.

No driver information was released.

Police traffic investigators said it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver that fled.
