Brie Chmielewski Injured in Fatal Suspected DUI Crash on State Route 507 [Spanaway, WA]

Male Passenger Dies in Spanaway Vehicle Collision

Spanaway, WA (June 25, 2022) – On Friday, Brie Chmielewski, a 22-year-old Tacoma woman, sustained injuries in a suspected DUI crash on State Route 507 killing a man.

It was about 12:37 a.m. when the collision took place near the Roy Y intersection.

Officers say a 22-year-old Tacoma man was riding a vehicle southbound on State Route 7. Chmielewski, the driver, approached State Route 507 but failed to negotiate the curve.

The vehicle left the roadway and traveled across State Route 507. Afterward, the vehicle hit a guardrail and rolled off the roadway. Then, it stopped south of the highway.

Unfortunately, the male passenger lost his life at the scene.

Moreover, the paramedics took Brie Chmielewski to St. Joseph Medical Center with injuries.

Officers say they expect her to be charged with DUI vehicular homicide.

Meanwhile, the authorities did not provide the identity of the deceased. They say he was not wearing a seat belt during the accident while the driver was wearing one.

The investigators suspect that excessive speed and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol caused the collision.
