Per reports, Amtrak Cascades passenger train 517 struck the bicyclist while traveling from Vancouver, B.C., to Portland.
The bicyclist was pedaling from Roeder Avenue and ignored both flaggers and electric arms. He continued pedaling onto the tracks where the Amtrak train struck him.
Murphy further noted that the man died at the scene. His age and identity have yet to be released pending notification of his family.
As a result of the crash, neither of the 92 passengers on board suffered any injuries. The train, however, faced a three-hour delay due to investigations.
