Andres Gama and Francisco Saavedra Arrested in Dana Point Multi-Vehicle DUI Accident

 
DANA POINT, CA (October 30, 2019) – Officers arrested Andres Gama and Francisco Saavedra after a multi-vehicle DUI crash in Dana Point.
 
According to authorities, deputies responded to reports of an accident involving three vehicles around 7:15 p.m. on Monday, October 28. 
 
The crash occurred at the Pacific Coast Highway and Alcazar Drive intersection, Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Joses Walehwa stated.
 
The deputies later found out that a male passenger from one of the vehicles fled on foot. Furthermore, he also fired a gunshot at a witness who attempted to stop him, according to reports.
 
No one was struck by the gunshot. However, several people sustained non life-threatening injuries in the crash.
 
The exact reason behind the crash is still currently under investigation. Officers later arrested Andres Gama, 18, on suspicion of driving under the influence.
 
Moreover, the man suspected of firing the gunshot – identified by officers as 18-year-old Francisco Saavedra – returned to the scene. Police then arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.
 
Authorities recovered the gun used in the shooting. They also believe that both Gama and Saavedra were in the same vehicle at the time of the crash, the sergeant added.
