Alexys Gillard Dies After Colliding With Box Truck on Garber Avenue Near Parkside Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 5, 2018) – A 24-year-old woman lost her life Saturday morning after colliding with an unoccupied parked rental box truck on Garber Avenue near Parkside Avenue.
The incident happened in the 6400 block of Garber Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Alexys Gillard was driving a 2017 Ford Mustang at a low speed southbound along Garber Avenue when for unknown reasons she allowed her vehicle to drift to the right and strike an unoccupied parked rental box truck.
Bystanders found Gillard unresponsive and contacted 911. As the lone occupant of the Ford, she was brought to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest where she died at 2:03 a.m., per the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators are looking into the details of this crash to determine the underlying cause.
