Alex Nieves Detained Following Solo-Car Accident That Injured 6 on Harbor Boulevard Near Edinger Avenue
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (April 11, 2019) – An 18-year-old driver was arrested for DUI Friday following a single-vehicle crash on Harbor Boulevard near Edinger Avenue.
Around 11:59 p.m., officers responded to the collision to find six people with non-life-threatening injuries.
Inside the SUV were six occupants ranging from ages 18 to mid-20s.
According to Fountain Valley Sgt. Kham Vang, a tank of nitrous oxide was uncovered in their white Chevrolet SUV that lost control and struck a tree before hitting a power pole. Further reports noted that Alex Nieves – the driver – had been speeding prior to the impact.
Following the accident, police arrested Nieves, 18, of Santa Ana on suspicion of driving while under the influence. Officers determined that the others were under the influence, as well.
