Five Transported in Edinburg Fatal Crash
Edinburg, TX (April 21, 2024) – 49-year-old Edgar Ivan Garcia of Edinburg was killed following an FM 1925 collision Saturday evening.
It was about 6:34 p.m. when the multi-vehicle crash happened on Uresti Road.
Investigators said a silver Chevrolet Malibu driven by a man with Garcia as the passenger, was eastbound on FM 1925. The driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into the westbound lanes. The vehicle then struck a mailbox and fence.
A black Tahoe occupied by a male driver and three female passengers was westbound on the same road. The driver stopped when he saw the Malibu lose control.
Moreover, an eastbound white Chevrolet Camaro behind the Malibu swerved to avoid colliding with it. However, the vehicle lost control and side-swiped the Tahoe.
The driver of the Malibu ran from the scene while his passenger, Edgar Ivan Garcia, died at the crash scene.
The four people riding the Tahoe and the sole occupant of the Camaro were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Texas DPS officers are asking those with details on the Malibu’s driver to contact the Weslaco office at (956)-565-7600.
