2 Dead in Langley Plane Accident near Whidbey Air Park
LANGLEY, WA (November 13, 2020) – Wednesday, two people succumbed to injuries after a small plane crash near Whidbey Air Park.
According to an FAA spokesperson, a Cessna 177 Cardinal crashed one mile north of Whidbey Air Park in Langley. At about noon, a person contacted 911 and informed them about the plane in the area having problems landing.
Meanwhile, Island County Sheriff’s Sgt. Laura Price revealed that the crash killed two people inside the plane. At this time, the responders suspect that the two deceased occupants were the only people inside the plane. Furthermore, Price revealed that a flying club owns the said plane.
On the other hand, County officials revealed that the plane wasn’t attempting to land or take off. Instead, it was probably passing through the area.
Meanwhile, Jon Gabelein with South Whidbey Fire revealed that the first responders found it difficult to access the crash scene. Thus, the team ended up in a wooded area not far from the airfield.
Also, the crash didn’t result in any visible flames and there were no witnesses.
Due to the limited information, the crash remains under active investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) handles the said investigation.
