2 Killed, Elias Navarro and Rene Rocha Injured in Porterville Car Accident

2 Dead in Porterville Multi-Vehicle Accident on Orange Belt Drive

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (August 20, 2019) – Two people died while another sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on Orange Belt Drive on August 16.
 
The incident ended the life of a 63-year-old man from Porterville and his male passenger. At around 6:15 p.m., the 63-year-old man drove his 2000 Saturn southbound north on Orange Belt Drive and Avenue 184. Meanwhile, 61-year-old Elias Navarro of Porterville was traveled in a 2012 Dodge pickup truck behind the Saturn at around 55 mph.
 
Furthermore, 30-year-old Rene Rocha of Terra Bella drove his 2014 Honda Civic north on Orange Belt Drive, south on Avenue 184 intersection at 60 mph. However, the Saturn stooped directly in front of the Dodge, probably trying to turn left onto eastbound Avenue 184.
 
As a result, the Dodge’s front end crashed into the Saturn’s rear. The collision sent the Saturn to spin on its wheels and into the Honda’s path. The Honda’s front end crashed into the Saturn. Eventually, the Saturn and the Honda came to rest and blocked the intersection. Meanwhile, the Dodge stopped south of the intersection.
 
Authorities pronounced the 63-year-old male driver and his male passenger dead at the scene.
 
Responders transported Elias Navarro to Sierra View Hospital for a cut to his forehead. Meanwhile, Rene Rocha suffered a minor abrasion to his right arm.
 
The CHP also clarified that Navarro or Rocha didn’t suffer from impairment.
