One Dies in Train and Pedestrian Accident in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE, CA (December 8, 2019) – A train struck and killed a woman near the 290 block of Seagaze Drive on Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at approximately 2:40 PM.
Reports from the train’s engineer showed that the victim, who appeared to be in her 30s, deliberately walked onto the tracks. The Metrolink train sounded an alert but the woman remained standing on the tracks, facing the train as it approached.
The train attempted to stop, but hit the woman. As a result, the victim died at the scene. In addition, her identity is withheld pending notification of next of kin.
It is not clear yet why the woman walked onto the track. Investigators are still looking into the crash.
