Pedestrian Dies in Three-Vehicle Crash in North Hollywood
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (March 27, 2019) – A pedestrian died Tuesday after a vehicle involved in a three-car collision stuck her at Vineland Avenue and Victory Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident happened around 3:10 p.m. in the 11000 block of Victory Boulevard.
News reports indicated that an unidentified BMW driver traveling north at excessive speeds on Vineland Avenue blew through a red light. As a result, the BMW collided with a southbound Honda attempting a turn onto Victory Boulevard.
The brute force of both vehicles sent the BMW off the roadway and into the air before striking a parked car in a CVS Pharmacy parking lot. The vehicle subsequently ricocheted and smashed into the CVS sign before landing on top of a female pedestrian waiting at a bus stop.
According to LAPD, civilians acted fiercely and tried lifting the vehicle off the victim before paramedics responded. However, the unidentified woman died upon arrival at the hospital. Officers described her as a woman in her 60s.
Meanwhile, the driver in the BMW suffered minor injuries and required hospitalized along with the female driver of the Honda whose condition is unknown.
According to authorities, the driver may anticipate DUI charges once he’s medically cleared.
