Two Seriously Injured in DUI Auto Crash in Clairemont Mesa Boulevard
San Diego, CA (May 5, 2020)– On Monday evening, a 56-year-old woman sustained severe injuries in an auto crash while the driver, suspected of DUI, was arrested in Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
The San Diego Police responded upon receiving crash reports at around 7 p.m. on May 5, occurring in 5000 blocks of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. Dispatched officers arrived and located two sprawled vehicles on the scene.
Reportedly, the woman driving a 2018 Honda CRV made a left turn onto Longford Drive from westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. When the 44-year-old man in a 1999 Dodge Dakota truck failed to stop for a red light and struck her car.
Due to the extreme impact, the woman suffered internal bleeding, multiple back fractures, and bowel injuries. The driver suffered a fractured femur. Moreover, both were admitted to area hospitals for immediate treatment.
At this time, the driver of the Dodge is facing charges of felony DUI.
