Pedestrian Hospitalized after Auto Crash on Highway 246

 
Buellton, CA (May 7, 2020)– Thursday night, one unidentified woman sustained injuries while her dog died after an auto crash on Highway 246.
 
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded upon receiving crash reports at about 8:20 p.m. on May 7. Dispatched officers arrived and located the injured woman and her dog on the scene.
 
According to reports, the woman, together with her dog, was crossing Highway 246 in Buellton when a vehicle struck them both. The woman sustained injuries while her dog died on the scene.
 
EMS personnel treated the victim at the scene, then airlifted by Calstar medical hospital to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. There have been no updates on her current situation. Moreover, her identity remains undisclosed.
 
Furthermore, officers closed the surrounding area of Highway 246 during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, it has since reopened.
 
Santa Barbara County continues the investigation and will release more information once available.
