Passenger Critically Hurt in Crash Into Ditch in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 17, 2019) – A woman sustained critical injuries in Monday’s single-vehicle accident on Main Street near the 5 Freeway.
According to San Diego Police Officer John Buttle, the 9:40 p.m. accident happened just west of the 5 Freeway.
Reports say a 24-year-old man operating a 2013 Chevrolet sedan westbound on Main Street encountered a sharp curve on the roadway. Upon noticing this, he failed to negotiate a turn, causing the car to veer off the road and strike a drainage ditch.
As a result, a female front-seat passenger suffered a displaced pelvis, brain bleed and a brain swelling. The Chevrolet driver also sought treatment at a local hospital, but the extent of his injuries was unavailable.
Authorities are not sure what caused the driver to lose control, but a follow-up investigation is underway.
