Pedestrian Killed, Man Injured After Driver Crashes in Lynwood
LYNWOOD, WA (May 20, 2019) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on 188th Street Southwest near 46th Avenue West Thursday evening.
The deadly event occurred around 6:15 p.m. in the 4600 block of 188th Street Southwest.
Investigators believe a woman in her mid-20s allegedly drove on the opposite side of the street, jumped a curb and veered down a sidewalk.
The woman’s Honda CRV subsequently struck traffic signs before hitting a woman walking on the sidewalk.
According to witnesses, the pedestrian was carried on the hood of the car as it traveled between telephone poles and onto a front yard. There, the car rammed into a garage, where it struck a 61-year-old man inside sitting on a chair.
As a result of the accident, paramedics brought the man to a nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, paramedics performed CPR on the woman found on the ground next to the SUV. However, despite these attempts, she died at the scene.
The Honda driver suffered unknown injuries. Police plans to conduct a toxicology test to determine whether impairment played a role.
