1 Dead, 4 Hurt in Lodi Two-Car Crash
LODI, CA (April 16, 2019) – A 21-year-old woman died as a result of a head-on collision on Highway 99 near East Harney Lane Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the head-on collision occurred around 1:45 p.m.
The woman from Lodi was seated without a seatbelt in the front passenger seat of a 2014 Nissan. Traveling south on Highway 99 while approaching a northbound 2000 Chrysler, the 21-year-old male Nissan driver veered into the oncoming lanes for unknown reasons.
As a result, the Chrysler and Nissan struck head-on, fatally injuring the woman in the Nissan. Her husband, as well as her 1-year-old daughter in the rear seat, suffered minor to major injuries. A 56-year-old man and woman in the Chrysler also suffered serious injuries.
According to CHP, neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the collision.
Inferring from a social media post, the Nissan occupants were returning home from a grocery shopping trip when the incident happened.
