Speeding Car Crashes into Parked Vehicles in Santa Clara Killing 1 and Critically Injuring Another
SANTA CLARA, CA (July 8, 2019) – A 25-year-old San Leandro woman was killed following a high-speed crash early Monday morning at the intersection of Cabrillo Avenue and Fordham Drive.
The crash happened around 1:27 a.m. when a black Honda Fit traveling at a high rate of speed struck parked cars along the 3300 block of Cabrillo Avenue.
The impact ejected two occupants in the Honda, the Santa Clara Police Department reported. Both were transported to Valley Medical Center, where the woman succumbed to her injuries. Her identity was not immediately available.
The man, a 29-year-old San Leandro resident, was in critical condition.
Cabrillo Avenue between Fordham Drive and Nobili Avenue was closed in the early morning hours but has since reopened.
Traffic division detectives are still sorting out which of the two was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role.
