Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Corona
CORONA, CA (February 6, 2020) — A woman was killed Wednesday morning in a pedestrian accident on the 15 Freeway near Temescal Canyon Road.
California Highway Patrol received a dispatch call around 1:20 a.m., regarding a pedestrian lying on the freeway’s shoulder.
CHP Officer Juan Quintero confirmed that a white Toyota Corolla heading north on the freeway veered onto the shoulder for unknown reasons. There, the Toyota struck the female pedestrian.
Around 1:35 a.m., paramedics arrived and declared the unidentified victim dead on scene due to the extent of her injuries. The driver was later identified as a male from Jurupa Valley.
The circumstances remain unclear as to why the driver veered onto the shoulder in the first place. Thus far, investigators have ruled out impairment as a factor.
