Woman Seriously Injured in Palm Desert Pedestrian Accident on Shadow Mountain Drive and Portola Avenue

 
PALM DESERT, CA (December 19, 2019)—A pedestrian accident at Shadow Mountain Drive and Portola Avenue left a woman with major injuries.
 
According to reports, a driver coming from eastbound Shadow Mountain Drive attempted a northbound turn onto Portola Avenue and struck the woman. However, it appears that the pedestrian tried crossing within the crosswalk in a westbound direction when the impact occurred.
 
Reports described the victim as a 57-year-old Palm Desert female. After that, paramedics transported her to a local hospital with major injuries.
 
The driver — described by authorities as a 19-year-old Palm Desert man — he remained at the scene as police questioned him. However, drugs and alcohol did not play a factor in the crash, per officials.
