Police Arrested Sammy Arvizu in Upland Fatal DUI Crash
Upland, CA (October 3, 2020) – On Sunday, a woman died, two other people were injured, and police arrested the 30-years-old Sammy Arvizu in a DUI crash on Arrow Highway.
The fatal crash happened at about 1:27 p.m. on September 6th, on the intersection of Arrow Highway and San Bernardino Road.
Investigators said Arvizu was driving a vehicle while under the influence. He crashed into a curb and light pole.
The impact ripped the rear passenger door off. As a result, the two passengers who were not wearing seat belts were ejected from the vehicle.
A woman died and two other passengers suffered critical injuries.
Police conducted a detailed investigation and found that Arvizu had a prior DUI conviction in which he was informed of the fatality rate for DUIs.
Police took Arvizu into custody and booked him at West Valley Detention Center.
He was being held on $1.1 million bail on charges of murder and DUI.
