Woman Dead, Man Injured in Collision With Tow Truck in Orange
ORANGE, CA (April 10, 2019) – A woman lost her life Tuesday morning when a pickup truck rammed into a tow truck vehicle on the 5 Freeway near the 22 Freeway.
The tragic incident prompted a closure of the carpool lane due to the investigation.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 8:30 a.m. crash happened when a flatbed tow truck began slowing down in the carpool lane. Subsequently, a pickup truck driven by a man and occupied by the female passenger rear-ended the vehicle, pushing the tow truck toward the center divider wall.
Unfortunately, the woman died in the accident and her driver suffered critical injuries.
The driver of the tow truck suffered a big bump on his head, according to CHP Officer Florentino Olivera.
Per reports, CHP officers are in their early stages of the investigation and determining where the fault lies.
